Little Scholar | Shasha
Shasha takes its name from Sha Wujing, the monk of Journey to the West. In Chinese tradition, he embodies steadiness, inner quiet and patient practice: asking for little, shouldering responsibility, his heart firm as stone.
The Little Scholar series uses simple, restrained forms to express reflection, Chan meditation and self-cultivation. Shasha is the largest figure, like one seasoned by years of practice. Seated quietly, without complexity or display, the figure holds a depth of meaning in its stillness.
The mellow, dignified colour of Zini clay complements the pose. Its greater size brings a reassuring presence to the tea table or study.
Through modest forms, the Little Scholar series reflects the larger work of cultivating a life and tempering the heart. Shasha is both companion and reminder: when the heart is settled, all else finds its place.
