About Golden Villa

Rooted in Eastern culture,

with the aesthetics of Chan at its heart,

we seek the original spirit and warmth of objects.

Returning to the source, rediscovering simplicity;

grounded in the present, responding to the future.

May every work carry Eastern civilisation forward,

finding renewed life in the spaces of today's cultivated lives.

The name Jinsha Shanfang traces back to Luxiang Shanfang, the mountain retreat where Lu Xisheng, a chancellor of the Tang dynasty, lived in seclusion and studied. He later donated the retreat for use as a temple, which became Jinsha Chan Temple.

Over the centuries, scholars gathered here and emperors bestowed inscribed plaques. Figures including Su Dongpo, Yue Fei and Wen Zhengming became associated with the site. By the middle of the Ming dynasty, it had become an important source of Zisha culture.

(A thousand years later, Lu Quanming, a descendant of the Lu family, discovered and researched the Jinsha Ancestor Teapot, continuing the cultural lineage of Zisha.)

Today, Golden Villa carries forward the Jinsha Shanfang name, bringing the life of learning, the quiet of Chan and the spirit of the Chinese literati together once again.
